Hahah, whoops!

Pretty badly, too.

I'm starting fresh, just gonna reinstall wordpress and everything. And comicpress.

I guess this kinda forces me to finally upgrade to the newest comic press... which means I'm going to have to rewrite all my css. So... I guess I am redesigning my stupid site. >:I

I'm pretty sure all the comments and things are stored in the database, but not really THAT sure. Oh well. As long as I can get the thing back up I'm not going to sweat it.

I'm working on it right now, but I'm also working on this week's page. If I don't have the site back up and tiptop shape by wednesday I will still upload the page here.

Don't worry, I got this. I am pretty okay at the website making, I think!

edit: Okay, it's back up, and so is the comic. Comments and descriptions and links are all there. Thank goodness. I was getting pretty frustrated! Hahah, sorry if you follow my twitter and had to endure my flailing incompetence.

I think when I reinstalled wordpress my config file was wrong in the database field area, so my database just went ahead and wrote a bunch of new tables for the new prefix. Whoops!

This is a learning experience.

Backups are your friend!

Also personally I don't run any code on my site that I wouldn't be able to fix myself if it breaks but then again I'm also a software engineer so that's probably a bit easier for me than most folks.

hey, I back up my stuff all the time. Including the database.

Nothing was lost.

Yeah... I'm not a software engineer, so if I had that attitude my site would MAYBE have CSS. Maybe.

Actually, for not having gone to any sort of classes I think I've got a pretty decent amount of understanding of this stuff. I figured out what went wrong and I fixed it.

Yeah, that's good. Really it's less about any specific classes anyone's taken and more about a willingness to learn and figure things out. I learned way more about software engineering by doing my own experimentation than by going to school for it (really I only went to school so I'd have the degree).

Most people seem unwilling to learn how their own things work these days and acts helpless when something breaks, and I'm always happy to see someone who bucks that trend. :)

Aw, nah, reinstalling wordpress doesn't take long at all. It's the making it pretty again thing that's going to take a while.

ooooh, good point. I had trouble installing it in the first place, but I think it might just hate me.

I had a lot of trouble the first time, because every tutorial just assumes you know things about databases. And you know, unless you're a web tech guy... why would you?

Of course, the first time I was installing wordpress was on NFShost. And they have like a different server set up or something that threw me off. Can't remember now.

pretty much. I think I was also trying to combine the wrong versions of wordpress and addons.

I was asleep while you were flailing on Twitter so I woke up this morning to an amusing recap of events =P

(Amusing like augh that must be frustrating but I know that feeling so I must laugh at it or smash things. I despise being my labgroup's webmaster.)

hahah, well, at least someone got some entertainment out of it.

Yesterday was not a good day. Except for the bright spot of having a friend come over.

I hate when that happens... The very few comments I get always seem to die thanks to the internet powers that be.

Ham-Spam made the face of everyone who was met by a fatal error message. He speaks for us.

And I am very impressed that you can make your own website. I may have passed website programming with more than 100%, but I kinda forgot it all once I got that A++. :D
